The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) Malaysia World Pink Mall
Roadshow media kick-off was yet another glamorous affair with many celebrities
attending this worthy cause to bring breast health and cancer awareness to the
malls. Stephanie Chai was the emcee for this event where Katrina Liew, the
Chairperson of the ELC Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign spoke, followed by
Gabrielle Tan, Director of Marketing,
Mid Valley City
Gardens and Ranjit Kaur, President of the
Breast Cancer Welfare
Association.
This was then followed by the sharing of inspirational stories from Siew Mei
Quin, a young breast cancer survivor and Ng Huay Tjin, the daughter of a breast
cancer survivor. Naturally, these are moving stories of courage and how one
could face breast cancer squarely and continue to live normally. More
importantly they also showed it is not just the person with breast cancer who is
affected but also the loved ones, friends, relatives and caregivers.
Then, the World Pink Photowall by Sony Cyber-Shot was launched, where many for a
minimum donation of RM10 can get their photographs taken with the World Pink
backdrop, get an instant printout and get to stick it on the wall plus a
duplicate to take home as souvenir.
The night was still not over as the next uplifting event was the illumination of
the Gardens Mall in pink! The guests all moved out into the open area where the
fountain is, with the link bridge between Gardens and Mid Valley Malls
overlooking this garden. As the VIP guests held their hands to the small globe,
the lights flashed pink, and the fountain started up. A nice hue of pink lighted
up the link bridge as well as the fountain.
The multifaceted event was very well attended, and many came with at least a
touch of pink if not in bright shocking pink. Road shows with health talks and
breast examination booths were held over the 9-11th Oct weekend in Gardens Mall
and 16-18th Oct weekend in Suria KLCC. Booths to sell World Pink ELC items to
raise funds were also present. |
