Seminar on New Standard for Whole Body Imaging, Kuala Lumpur  – 26 July 2008

L to R: John Steidley (Vice President, Global Marketing CT), Scott Pohlman (Director, Clinical Science CT, Ohio, USA), Dr Oliver Klass (Speaker), Dr Evelyn Ho (President, College of Radiology)

by Dr Evelyn Ho

Dr Oliver Klass , a cardiac surgeon and a radiologist in training from University Medical Centre, Ulm, Germany was in town to share his experience with cardiac and coronary artery imaging as well as give a lecture on the evolution of CT technology and clinical relevance. Dr Klass , a cardiac surgeon for many years was currently in “training” to become a Radiologist! This made him well-suited for the field of cardiac CT with his background in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery. He showed the new sequences that he was using in a research setting to overcome some of the deficiencies and improve imaging in cardiac CT angiograms and to see “functional” information as well. He later related the evolution of CT and its relevance to clinical practice.

As if to vet our appetites for things to come in CT – Scott Pohlman, who came all the way from Ohio, USA, gave an exciting view into the future possibilities. The seminar was held in Le Meridien, Kuala Lumpur on a Saturday afternoon. It was well attended with about 50% of the audience made up of radiographers.

Special thanks to Philips who sponsored the speaker and event.
