2007 Continuing Biomedical Imaging Education (CBIE) courses, UMMC, Malaysia


A series of seminars/workshops have been organized from February to December 2007 by the Department of Biomedical Imaging (Radiology), University of Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Short Courses for Nuclear Medicine and PET Professionals

Short courses in Radiopharmacy/Radiochemistry, PET Technology and Clinical PET are 2 – 4 week courses intended to offer scientists and physicians with appropriate background and qualifications opportunities to observe, learn and practise procedures involved in PET and nuclear medicine. 

Parties involved in the courses include the Australian Institute of Radiochemical Engineering based at the WA PET/Cyclotron Service in Perth; RAPID Laboratories Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the WA PET/Cyclotron Service.

Australian Institute of Ultrasound (AIU)


The AIU has trained more than 2000 sonographers and runs programmes dedicated to diagnostic ultrasound. The AIU celebrates its 10th year in 2005. New courses are being developed and courses launched in 2005 include ultrasound in Anaesthetics & Critical Care, 3D ultrasound and advanced vascular ultrasound workshops. Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Imaging


The University of Teesside, School of Health and Social Care in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Mara now offers a B. Sc (Hons) Medical Imaging course (since 2003). Entry requirements include a diploma in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent. Applications will be coordinated through the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciencies at UiTM and forwarded to the University of Teesside for selection to the course.
